Creating an inspiring, authentic culture.

Every organization has a culture, because every organization has people. Products are innovated by people, manufactured by people, packaged by people, shipped by people, bought by people, and thrown away by people. Like businesses and the products they sell, culture is about people. Always has been and, by the grace of God, always will be.

I came to believe this: What we think is what we believe; what we believe is what we give to the world; and what we give to the world is what the world sees in us. In other words, what you think your organization is will be what your people will believe to be true about your company—or, deeper than that, what they believe about you as the leader. If that is their belief system, then that is what they will give back to your organization and what your customers will see.

Creating an organizational culture is critical and, in my opinion, one of the most important ingredients for inspiring your people, customers, and the communities you serve.

Key takeaways

An authentic culture inspires three beautiful elements inside of an organization:

  1. Helps meet the organization’s vision and mission

  2. Allows the organization to adapt to change

  3. Empowers people to thrive

An authentic culture challenges you to ask yourself deep, compelling questions:

  1. What is your mission and vision?

  2. What is your ability and energy to change?

  3. Do you inspire yourself, your family, and your people to thrive?

A culture that magnifies your heart is your quest. It could be your legacy. So do your best. That’s all anyone can expect of you. Go create something amazing, something that makes a noise “where Boom Bands are playing,” as Dr. Seuss would say. It’s worth it, because your company is worth it; your people are worth it; your family is worth it; and so are you!
